There is currently no community-based mental health clinic in Israel specifically designed to meet the needs of the transgender community. Despite significantly higher rates of depression, anxiety, and suicidality, many of us encounter mental health services that are ill-equipped to support us — and in some cases, even harmful. A lack of professional training, financial barriers, systemic discrimination, and social stigma leave thousands of trans and non-binary people without access to basic mental health care.
It's time to change this reality.
The Gila Project for Trans Empowerment, in collaboration with the production of the film "The First Lady" and the Co-Pro Impact Lab, is working to establish the first clinic of its kind — a safe, accessible, and gender-sensitive space offering psychological and psychiatric care tailored to the needs of the transgender community.

The Solution
The first community mental health clinic in Israel dedicated to providing accessible mental health services for members of the transgender community. The clinic will be led by the transgender community, as well as mental health professionals—some of whom are also from the trans community—and will offer subsidized therapeutic services in a safe, non-judgmental, and affirmative environment.
